Twitter supposedly suspend first lady Aisha Buhari’s account

Social media giant (twitter) have supposedly suspended the verified account of Nigeria’s first lady Mrs Aisha Buhari.

The country seem to be facing lots of difficulties over the new currency swap and unavailability of the new naira notes.

The Central Bank of Nigeria had announced that the old currency are no longer legal tender in the country though some governors were opposed to the policy and dragged the CBN to court.

The supreme Court had ordered that the old notes should be in circulation but president Buhari in a national broadcast affirmed that only the old 200 naira notes should be in circulation but every other old naira note is no longer a legal tender.

This did not go well with some state governors like El Rufai, Ganduje etc. Who flaunted the order and instructed that the old naira notes should be used in their states.

However, on the 21st of February 2023. An information supposedly from the CBN surfaced on social media which Mrs Aisha Buhari posted on her verified account. The message was that the old notes could now be used as legal tender.

However, the CBN swiftly debunked it as fake news and we see that the first lady’s account is suspended.

Could the fake news post be responsible for her suspension?
